FAQ

  • What kit do I need to take the exam?

Because it's an online exam with remote proctoring you'll need a webcam, mic, and a good internet connection. You can use two monitors but they must be connected to a single device.

  • Is it an open-book exam?

Yes. You're allowed to have APMP's Body of Knowledge open in your web browser and the APMP Practitioner OTE Preparation Guide (there's a useful Industry Glossary of Terms at the back).

  • If I take this course does it mean that I’m guaranteed to pass the exam?

There are no guarantees in life but taking this course will help you to be as prepared as you possibly can. We’ve sat and passed the exam, so we can show you what to expect, what you need to know, and what it’ll be like.

  • Why do I need a course to prepare for an exam?

Objective test exams (OTE) are different to multiple choice exams. Multiple choice exams test your ability to know and understand facts. OTEs are different in style. In an OTE, the questions test your ability to apply your knowledge of APMP best practices at two recognised learning levels: Learning Level 3 - 'Application of best practices for a given situation within a scenario'; and Learning Level 4 - 'Separation of a complex idea into its constituent parts and an understanding of organisation and relationship between the parts'. This includes realising the distinction between hypothesis and fact as well as between relevant and extraneous variables. The learning levels are defined in Bloom's taxonomy of educational objectives (1956). That's why!

  • Where can I find the resources and information I need to study for the exam?

This course includes lessons that cover the key syllabus topics in the exam. You can find these in Chapter 4 of the course. We also advise that you read the recommended sections of APMP’s Body of Knowledge, which is available to APMP members at www.apmp.org.

  • Can I take a practice exam?

Yes. It’s a 2.5-hour exam, just like the real exam, and will help you understand the layout and OTE exam nuances. You can take the practice exam by visiting https://sampleexams.apmg-international.com/Marlin/SamplePapers.aspx and selecting "APMP Practitioner" from the dropdown menu. Be aware that the scenario will be different from the real exam.

  • Who administers the exams?

The APMP certification programme is administered by The APM Group Ltd. APMG is a leading accreditation, certification and qualification organisation recognised internationally by government agencies.

  • How much does the exam cost?

Check out APMP’s published pricelist for the latest information, including news of special limited period discounts, at https://www.apmp.org/page/AccreditPriceList.

  • Do I need to maintain my certification?

Certification will remain valid as long as you record ongoing professional development activity in your personal profile on the APMP website. You must record a minimum of 40 continuing education units (CEU) in every two-year period following your qualification.
